About this product

Product Information

After a large American city is evacuated due to an invasion of Venusian robots, a handful of people are left behind to face the alien terror. While the army and a group of scientists work on finding a chink in the robots' armor, Nora (Kathleen Crowley), Frank (Richard Denning), Vicki (Virginia Grey), and Jim (Richard Reeves) take refuge in an abandoned hotel. There, they find Davis (Robert Roark) a psychopathic killer who won't let such a crisis curb his murderous tendencies. This overlooked piece of 1950's isolation/paranoia-based science-fiction is based on the Paul W. Fairman's novel, THE DEADLY CITY.

Retro sci-fi madness from the fabulous fifties!

What’s not to love? Alien robots invade a major populated city. Only a handful of humans remain! Only the scientific minds of the army can save them! Has that same remarkable atmosphere as Invasion of the body snatchers!

  • Robot monster movie with a twist...

I remember watching this movie on one of the Creature Features type shows about 30 years ago. It's fun watching a deserted downtown Los Angeles and how 6 people try to escape death from alien invading robots who disintegrate anyone they find moving about in the streets. Its very suspenseful in the beginning, but the robots are laughable now. Still good to watch for the first part and look for Whit Bissell(Voyage To The Bottom of the Sea) and a male actor(whose name I can't recall) who played a lot of hoods in the old Adventures of Superman. An interesting side note is the shot of the Chevron station on a corner and the sign that says 29.9 cents for regular gas ! This in 1954 when the movie was released. George Senda Concord, Ca

  • Rare movie delivered on time. Higher quality DVD than expected.

Higher quality video than I expected. I owned this in VHS and have been trying to replace it in DVD for several years. Very low-cost B-level 50s Sci Fi -- but well scripted and acted.

  • 50's Sci-fi Thriller - b/w, B movie, cheese, great fun!

In the mid-1950's, my older brother and I would watch Sci-fi movies on our black and white TV. "Target Earth" is one of the movies I remember most and I hadn't seen it since then. Target Earth is a story about alien robots that invade the earth and four people who have either chosen to stay in an invaded city or have missed the evacuation and have no way out of the city. For me, it was fun to see the movie (in black and white) from an adult's perspective. What once appeared as a movie full of robots, only had one robot that was re-used in various scenes. The light rays from the robot's head now appeared as obvious cartooning, where, as a child, it appeared scary and real! I had a big chuckle when one of the frightening robots (with blinking lights on the side of his head) was pulling ...

  • Low budget mindless fun.

Main characters mostly wooden. "Jim" and "Vicky" provide comic relief. Classic sci-fi all the same.
