About this product

Product Information

Designed to link all your devices to the Internet with the easy-to-use Cisco Connect software, the Linksys E4200 750 Mbps 4-Port Gigabit Wireless-N Router offers speed, range, and ultra-fast transfer rates, meaning an end to your search for a gadget to meet all your needs. Using an easy setup, connect all of your equipment with the E4200. Like the wireless routers available, the simultaneous dual-band N (2.4 and 5 GHz) helps with interference, optimizing your experience when watching streaming video, using the wireless capabilities of your consoles, and transferring files from online or from one mobile device to another. The extended range of the Linksys E4200’s high-quality antenna means this wireless router gives unrivaled distance within your home network. The easy-to-see indicator light lets you know when your E4200 router is on by showing a steady light. It pulses when booting up or updating its firmware. Finally, if an error occurs, the light uses a flash to indicate a problem. The WPA2 encryption and SPI firewall improves the security of earlier routers keeps your network secure from outside intrusion. The four Gigabit Ethernet ports, using both 2.4 and 5 GHz bands, allow for fast file sharing between other Gigabit-enabled devices. For ease of use, the Ethernet ports use blue color-coding, and the Internet ports use yellow. The Linksys router also comes with a USB storage port, allowing you to connect a USB drive to share files at home. The E4200 includes a built-in UPnP AV media server for seamless streaming of video or audio files to a UPnP-compatible device, such as game consoles, using the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands for better connection, speed, and less interference between gadgets. As with other routers, all this is controlled using the easy-to-setup Cisco Connect software on your home computer. The E4200 is IPv6 enabled, virtually future-proofing your network, as long as you regularly update your firmware. Easy to install and manage using the provided Cisco Connect software, you can customize your settings to fulfill your needs. Unlike some routers, easily connect additional gadgets to your wireless when needed. If you need to return the router to its default settings, press and hold the reset button on the back of the router. By giving you the ability to connect all your gadgets to your home Wi-Fi system, the Linksys E4200 offers the ultimate in home theater entertainment in whatever configuration you choose. To accomplish this, the router uses dual-band N technology, utilizing 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, to ensure high-speed performance. Get smoother video playback and a lag-free gaming experience, using the Cisco Connect program and firmware updates. To provide added wireless security, the device allows you to set up your wireless settings and create a password-protected system for guests. You can accomplish this by using the Wi-Fi Protected Setup button on the back of the E4200. So, hook up the Linksys E4200 750 Mbps 4-Port Gigabit Wireless-N Router, make sure to update to the latest firmware, check your settings, and protect your system while enjoying home entertainment using your wireless connection.

    Great home update

Great use as the dual band gives options. I relabeled SSID and passwords. Using the USB port on back with a multi GB flash drive for music and some quick photo storage and sharing for project. Also back up on external HDD, but leave what I want to use. Unsure on the maximum readable drive size of the USB, since a external drive did not get recognized. Maybe a power issue. Otherwise we'll usable and I am still receiving 66mbs DL speed with this. Connection to router with Ethernet cable, not wifi, foes read at GB speeds, if you device can process that fast, but is worthy of a great thumbs up.

Router covered with lots of grease

  • A good device for a high tech home usage

The simultaneous dual wireless net works very good. Despite the internal antennas, the 2.4G range is even better than my old Dlink DIR 300 router which have an external 5dbi antenna. The file transfer to USB is a good feature, supports NTFS, but the speed is a real issue. Transfer large files like movies is annoying, but it can work fine to backup things like photos or docs on a external device. The DLNA server is no good, works fine with 700MB AVI files, but fails to work with 720p / 1080p videos; a lot of codecs are not supported also. In my opinion, to be 'the' device, it needed a built-in modem, a better DLNA server, improve the USB transfer speed and add printer capability. I will try it latter after upgrading the internal OS to DD-WRT.

  • The "War Tank" of Home Based networking

This is, by far, the best home product Cisco have ever designed and produced. I bought this product after reading its specs on Cisco website. After my loyal Trendnet TEW finally stopped working, this was the better option: Since I use constantly apps like skype, netflix, Xbox Live and normally had to keep a PC on use to maintain my data shared to my home network, I needed some heavy artillery. And this product is, by far, the best option. Two ranges helps you keep a strong WiFi signal; lets you use this router in a WPA Enterprise environment; filters the broadband to keep your main apps running (yes, I've experienced the torture of talking to skype in an important business appointment with bad quality because your moron brother is watching some nasty HD porn). Also, the USB Port is a very ...

  • Dependable product. Spend the money and get the BEST!

I was looking for a new router to replace my old draft N wireless router. I came across this sleek little number with 2 different bands, network 450 Mbps transfer speed and usb connectivity for printers/peripheral devices. My old unit kept dropping out and reconnecting during peek hours or high usage. I do some gaming and also run a game server from time to time and need something that is reliable and my old system just wasn't cutting it. This Linksys E4200 has been living up to its hype. Data transfer has been seamless and constant while my online activities have been running non-interrupted since I started using this equipment. Although the price is still high I don't believe there is a similar featured item out there as yet, so your getting the best available and most reliable ...
